How are you doing? It’s been a strange week and it’s difficult to know what to say. We spent a couple of days this week with our cheese guru who is amazingly knowledgeable about microbiology.
She reaffirmed to us that hand washing with soap is the single most important thing you can do. Why? Because the soap dissolves the fat membrane that surrounds the virus – there’s a fantastic explanation of it in this article: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/mar/12/science-soap-kills-coronavirus-alcohol-based-disinfectants
So soap rather than antibacterial products – remember coronavirus is a virus, not bacteria. We have increased our own hand washing protocols at every stage of our production and packing.
There has been a lot of online orders over the past week, which is entirely understandable, so at first glance our online shop looks a little depleted with Laganory, Bluebell and Cheddar all effectively out of stock. However, stocks of all other cheeses are good, and we should have Laganory back and available online within the next couple of weeks.
We have also been trialing some new cheeses and so we should have two different test batches available in limited quantities from, we think, next weekend. We’re quite excited about both of them.
Take care of yourself and those around you, and if anxiety or worry is becoming overwhelming, do reach out and talk it through. Let’s share kindness rather than fear, and look forward to warmer, calmer days to come.
