Baking Bluebell

A one-off batch of Bluebell that's best baked
Description

Occasionally we get a batch of cheese that doesn't quite work out the way we had planned... this time, it's the turn of Bluebell.

Normally Bluebell is a semi-soft, creamy cheese that's almost spreadable. This batch of Bluebell hasn't turned out like that at all. We think the hot, dry, summer weather - combined with our natural, stone walled cooling system - meant this batch dried too quickly at a critical stage in the development of the cheese.

But the wonderful thing about traditional cheesemaking is that there's usually a delicious solution to be found, and we think we've found it.

This batch of Bluebell responded really well to being baked in the oven, so we're calling it 'Baking Bluebell'. Bring it to room temperature, drizzle it with olive oil, a touch of garlic and some sprigs of rosemary, bake it till it's soft in the middle and then enjoy while it's still warm. 

Our hope is that this will be the only batch of Baking Bluebell we ever make, and we've got fingers crossed that the next batch Bluebell will be back to its usual creamy, soft, delicious normal self.

Your cheese order will be delivered in Woolcool packaging, a system of eco-friendly insulated packaging made from sheep’s wool. This packaging keeps our cheeses below  5oC  for 48 hours so that they reach you perfectly chilled and ready to enjoy. Cheeses are sent using a next day delivery courier service, however occasionally delivery can be delayed. If you receive your cheese a day later than expected, the cheese will be absolutely fine. The Sorba-freeze ice packs we use are reusable, they can be dehydrated (on a radiator) and rehydrated with water and refrozen.

We dispatch orders twice a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For same week delivery, please place your order by 1pm on Tuesday.

You can schedule your delivery in advance, although some products, such as Garnie, have restricted dispatch windows.
