Our Book

A Dairy Story is the full, no holds barred, story of the transformation of our farm, from conventional farm to cow-with-calf, organic, 100% pasture, regenerative dairy. The book is a memoir, which means it's also the story of us; our motivations and our hopes for the future. It’s more than a dairy story, it’s our story.

To enable the book to happen quickly, it was self-published via a crowdfunding campaign, and more than 400 people helped to make it happen. Thank you to each and every one of them. The book was officially launched at the Wigtown Book Festival on 29th September 2022.

The hardback copies of A Dairy Story that were published via the crowdfunder are now sold out.

To ensure the book is widely accessible and available to non-UK readers, we have made it available to buy as a print-on-demand paperback via Amazon. This will print at roughly the same size as the original hardback. It's also available to buy on Kindle. You can find it on the following pages:

A Dairy Revolution

We want cow-with-calf regenerative dairy farming to become as normal as free-range eggs.

So we are going to do everything we can to show that this approach to dairy farming is productive, efficient and affordable. That means, we're going to share everything we know.

Work has begun on a filming project. This is about capturing as much as possible about what goes on here in a year, with the goal of turning it into a documentary, that we hope will inspire others to adopt a similar system. Filming started during spring calving, and there’s a lot still to capture. It’s a big undertaking.

After we hit the crowdfunding goal for our book, we published the short video below that includes a thank you from David, and provides a taster of the footage gathered so far.

Thank You

It's difficult to put into words just how grateful we are for the support and encouragement of our customers, supporters and those who have visited our farm over the years.

Many people have helped us develop our current farming system, and many of those have done so with the hope that cow-with-calf dairy farming could become much more commonplace. We hope that too.

For that to happen will require a big shift in mindset in the industry, driven by a push from the public, encouragement from government, and an understanding of the wider benefits of agroecological farming. It will also require knowledge and experience to be shared. We hope that sharing as much as possible about what we know and have learned will help.

Our goal over the next year is to make sure that nothing about our farm transformation is left unsaid.
